Sole seems to have changed

I ordered these because I have loved this work boot for years. But my most recently ordered pair are very disappointing. I got the boot itself softened up enough to wear but the sole is hard as a rock! Sanding is like standing on a metal plate! I have been trying to break them in to no avail. The sole is horrible
